Industrial-design.com was started in 1989. Over the years we have been a full service Web Design and Hosting service to many companies. With the recent changes in hosting and server technologies we decided to move away from hosting and focus on design. We changed our business model to support virtual world design and management. We have been involved in the second life community since 2005 and our first big project was the Rock Band Journey. We were the web design team for Journey from 2001 to 2007. In 2006 we brought the band into Second Life and built a Virtual Island that broke many records. We were the first to bring a "Major Act" into Second Life and have the band members appear live on their own land inside Second Life. The end result was an incredible increase in traffic to the Journey website and forums from about 4 million hits per month to over 80 million hits per month. The Journey Island Sim in Second Life was up and running for a year and was built to support the bands Revelation album which went platinum within in one year. The Viral aspect of Secondlife brought new life to the band.
